A personalised Islamic storybook, printed in the UK: Hudhud

Hudhud is a personalised Islamic storybook printed in the UK for children aged about 2–9. Your child’s first name and an illustrated likeness, drawn from one photo, fly at night with Hudhud, a talking hoopoe, through the stories of the Prophets Nuh, Ibrahim, Musa, Isa and Muhammad (peace be upon them). It costs £29 with free tracked UK delivery.

What happens in the story?

It begins at bedtime. Tap, tap, tap: a curious little hoopoe is at the window. “I’m Hudhud,” he whispers. “Come with me.” Your child floats up into a moonlit sky, above clouds “like a silver sea”, and Hudhud explains where they’re going: “To discover stories Allah tells us in the Qur’an. Five great Prophets. Faith, courage and trust in Allah.”

From there, the journey visits the stories of:

Peace be upon them all. The Prophet stories draw on the Qur’an and Tafsir Ibn Kathir. The child-and-Hudhud journey is a fictional storytelling frame around them: an invitation to read, ask questions and learn together.

Sample page: bedtime, as Hudhud the hoopoe taps at the bedroom window
Sample page from the edition made for “Yusuf”: Hudhud taps at the window.

Why a hoopoe?

“Hudhud” is Arabic for hoopoe, the bird in Surah An-Naml that travelled far and brought true news to the Prophet Sulayman, peace be upon him (27:20–28). Our Hudhud is a fictional character inspired by that bird. Read more in the hoopoe in the Qur’an.

How does the personalisation work?

You enter a few details and one photo, see your child’s character, and only then pay.

  1. Their name. Enter your child’s first name; it appears in the title and throughout the story.
  2. Their age group and whether they’re a girl or boy (under 3, 3–4, 5–6, 7–8 or 9+), so they’re drawn at the right age.
  3. One clear photo of their face. Your child is drawn as a storybook character, with their hair, skin and smile, using AI image tools.
  4. See their character before you pay.
  5. Your dedication (optional) on the opening page.
  6. A real person checks every page before printing.

The photo is used only to draw your child and is deleted once the pages are made, at most 7 days after upload; our privacy policy gives the details. The full process is explained in how personalised books are made.
