Privacy policy

Hudhud makes personalised picture books at littlehudhud.com. This policy explains what we collect when you make a book, why, who helps us, and when it is deleted. We are the controller of this information. Questions or requests: hello@littlehudhud.com.
Your child’s photo comes first
- We use the photo for one thing only: to draw your child as an illustrated character for their book.
- You must be the child’s parent or guardian, or have their permission, and you confirm this before we use the photo.
- The photo is kept privately. Only our own small team can see it, and only to make and check the book.
- If you don’t order, the photo and the drawing made from it are deleted within about a day.
- If you do order, the photo is deleted as soon as the book’s pages are made, and never later than 7 days after it was uploaded.
- We never use your photo for advertising, never share it publicly, and never use it to train anyone’s AI.
What we collect
| Information | Why |
|---|---|
| Your child’s first name, age group, whether they’re a girl or boy, and your dedication | To write their name into the book and draw them at the right age. |
| Your child’s photo | To draw them for the book (see above). |
| Your email address | To send you their character, order updates and, if you leave before paying, one reminder. Nothing else. |
| Your name, delivery address and phone number | To print and deliver the book, and for the courier to contact you about delivery. |
| Payment details | Taken by Stripe on their secure page. We never see or store your card details. |
Our legal reasons
- To make and deliver your order: it’s needed to perform our contract with you.
- Your child’s photo: your consent, given when you upload it. You can withdraw it at any time before the book is printed by emailing us, and we’ll delete the photo and drawing.
- The one reminder email: our legitimate interest in letting you finish a book you started. We send at most one, and never marketing.
- Order records: we must keep invoices and payment records for 6 years for tax law.
- Analytics and advertising cookies: only with your consent, given in our cookie banner. You can change your mind at any time on our cookies page.
Who helps us
A few trusted companies process information on our behalf, only to provide their service to us:
- OpenAI draws the illustrations and checks the pictures. They receive the photo and the book pages for that purpose only. Under their business terms they don’t use them to train their models, and they may keep them for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring before deleting them.
- Stripe takes payment.
- Bookvault prints and delivers the book. They receive the book files and your delivery details.
- Fly.io hosts our website and Studio in London.
- Resend sends our emails.
- Google, Meta, TikTok and Pinterest, only if you accept analytics or advertising cookies: they measure visits to our website and our adverts, and help show our adverts to people likely to be interested. They see which pages you visit and what you do on them (for example, starting or completing an order and its value), never your child’s photo, name or your contact details. See our cookies page.
Some of these companies are based in the USA. Where information leaves the UK, it is protected by the UK’s approved safeguards (the UK–US data bridge or standard contractual clauses).
How long we keep things
- Photo and character, if you don’t order: deleted within about a day.
- Photo, if you order: deleted once the pages are made, at most 7 days.
- Your book’s files: kept for 90 days after printing so we can help with any problem or reprint, then deleted.
- Order and payment records: 6 years, as the law requires.
- Your email from an unfinished book: kept so we can answer you, and deleted on request.
Hudhud Partners
If you join our partner programme, or are given a partner link when you buy a book, we keep your name, email, partner code, the date you joined and where you said you’d share, plus the sales your link brings (date, amount and status, never the family’s details) and your payouts. We use this to run the programme and pay you, under our agreement with you (contract). If you connect a bank account, Stripe holds your bank and identity details under its own terms; we only see whether payouts are switched on. We keep partner records while you’re a partner and for 6 years after the last payout, as accounting law requires.
When a family orders through a partner’s link, we record the partner’s code on the order so the partner can be paid; the partner sees only the date, their commission and its status. Partner link clicks are counted per day without storing IP addresses or using cookies.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, object to how we use it, or withdraw your consent. Email hello@littlehudhud.com and we’ll reply within a month. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies and storage
Analytics and advertising cookies are off unless you accept them in our cookie banner; our cookies page lists each one and lets you change your choice at any time. While you make a book, your browser remembers your progress (the name, choices and dedication, not the photo) for a day, so you can come back to it. If you arrive through a partner’s link, your browser keeps that partner’s code for 30 days so your discount is waiting at checkout; you can remove it at checkout. Partners who sign in to their partner page keep a sign-in key in their browser. Our team’s Studio uses one sign-in cookie.
Changes
If we change this policy we’ll update the date above. Important changes will be shown on this page before they apply.
